The tug of war between ads of MAC's and PC's continue to be persuasive but which one pulled stronger than the other? I've had previous experience using PC's as a child in elementary school all the way to UNC Chapel Hill on my current labtop. Maybe theres a reason why we used PC's in computer classes growing up..easier AND more affordable? In the video shown below an extremely adorable 4 1/2 year old girl displays how easy it is to use a PC.
According to Kylie, sending a picture to your family is ridiculously easy.. all you need to do is plug "the thingy" or camera cord in the proper port and click upload. To make the picture "much better" you just need to click auto-adjust and its magically better! After Kylie made the picture of her pet fish Dorothy "much better" with a single click, she simply clicks "send" so her mommy and daddy can see it.
PC's excel in giving you easy tools and the only concern you need to worry about is how far you want to go with your PC. You do not have to worry about learning new techniques that should not be given a second thought. The only concern you need is where you decide to go on your PC. The possibilities are endless and your fingertips lead the way to an unforgettable ride of pure adventure.
PC's are a G.R.E.A.T D.E.A.L:
G-reat quality
R-eliable
E-asiness
A-ffordable
T-echnical support
D-elivers
E-fficiency
A-ll software/games are compatible
L-ots of options!
Why pay more for unwanted confusion and no difference in hardware?

I completely agree with everything you pointed out in this post. It is no secret that PC are much easier to navigate through than MACs. MACS have so many different programs and functions that a four year old will definitely not be able to figure out. I just do not understand why some people waste their time and money on the fancy MACs. Obviously, it makes sense to invest in a PC rather than a MAC because most of us are already accustomed to them. The only problem that comes up with this point is that once someone becomes accustomed to the MAC, they may regard the PC as a worthless piece of technology. What I mean is that once they figure out all the fun things a MAC can do that a PC cannot do (whether these things are useful or not), they will see the MAC as being far more superior than the PC.
ReplyDeleteHello! Visiting a new blog in class. Heh.
ReplyDeleteWell, personally, I'm totally a PC person. I get so confused when the mouse on the Mac starts doing weird things. But, do you think that our affinity for the PC could be precisely because we were brought up and educated in it? What if we had been brought up using Mac? Would we be more comfortable/proficient at using the Mac? I think more than PC is user friendly is that it's so commonplace in life so people grow up conditioned to it.
As a counter example, I have a friend who swears by Mac and does the most amazing things with his Mac. To him, he says that Mac is so easy to use. BUT, he grew up in a household where Mac was the computer of choice. Perhaps it might be useful to think about the effects of conditioning on our perception of products. (:
I agree with you that PCs are cheaper and easier to, and also that we are use to them because that's the computers we used since we were little. I recall having at least five or six computers throughout my life time and all have been PCs. But remember that it makes a difference who makes it, meaning, we all know PC means it uses Microsoft software, but they are made by different manufacturers such as Toshiba, Dell, HP, Lenovo, IBM, etc... and they can all have different programs that can affect your experience while using them.
ReplyDeleteBut MAC is only made by Apple, and I believe that Apple is better than Microsoft and actually is one of the best manufacturers of electronics, for example they revolutionized the world when they came out with the iPod, then the iPhone, but they didn't stop there and have perfected it. MAC has computers such as the Tough Book that resists more than other laptops if drop.
So it depends what your needs are or how much you like all the perks that computers have nowadays, so I would say that if you like high quality MAC is the way to go.
I completely agree with Jane. I am currently a Mac user but I grew up on a PC. Initially, we think it's semi-difficult to adapt to the changes, involved, but I have acknowledged the simplicity of Macs once we get used to it. It think the idea that PCs are easier to used are based on the fact that that is the type of computer most people were raised on.
ReplyDeleteI love that video.
ReplyDeleteI think it's interesting how companies are using kids to help sell their products. Are they saying that using a computer is THAT easy?
However, there are those people who are still living in the past. My mom, for example, is not a computer person. She is computer incompetent for the most...but her job requires her to use some software. She only knows how to use that software and basically nothing else. She asks for help with the internet and Microsoft Office. This leads me to another question...are older people more willing to navigate electronics and technology, or is it mostly the younger generation?
